Term 2, Week 2

Welcome back to another week in paradise!

I hope everyone managed to escape to their secret spot and enjoy the awesome run of weather we are having. I spent 3 days in the
shapartment sealing the plywood walls and ceilings. It's definitely a job that I would highly recommend you all experiencing at least once in your life.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

ANZAC DAY SERVICE

To those of you that came on Friday afternoon would agree at how well the students created an atmosphere that would have rivaled any Anzac commemoration. Great job 5J!

WHEELIE, WALKIE, WASTE FREE WEDNESDAY

If possible, please send your child to school with a waste free lunch tomorrow and each Wednesday for the rest of the term. It's a great initiative that instills sustainable behaviours in all of us. Another great way to get behind this initiative, is to walk or ride to school. If you are too far from school, walking from the church may be a way for you to partake.

INSIDE THE CLASSROOM

We are continuing with our problem solving strategies this week. Get your children to apply the strategies they have learnt so far and have a go at the Problem of the Week below.

We have begun our persuasive writing unit today in preparation for NAPLAN. Hopefully, your child will be able to present some strong arguments to you as to why they shouldn't be emptying the dishwasher or completing their home learning. Enjoy!

SPEAK OUT

The 'Speak Out' task as part of our home learning is now officially in action. On Friday, the class watched my presentation of my chilli plant. Certainly wasn't a perfect example, but we discussed ways in which I could improve my presentation.

All materials have been uploaded to the Content Library - English Folder on One Note. In there you
will find the schedule (starting Week 4), tips on how to present the speech and tips on how to listen to others when they are presenting.

Please have a discussion with your child about what they may want to present to the class. The topic is 'Something that is special to me'. Try and find that item that has an interesting and engaging story behind it. All students should aim to have their presentation go for no less than 30 seconds and no longer than a minute and a half.

PROBLEM OF THE WEEK

Have a go at this week's problem with your child. Hopefully they can take you through the 4 step process that we have been using to solve our problems.
