Term 3, Week 2

 Hello Parents!

I hope you are all having a great weekend and managing to get out and about. So much sport is going on at the moment! Good to see the Eagles hold on for a win on Saturday. The Olympics are on and the Interschool Cross Country is on this Thursday (fingers crossed). What a week!

SEESAW APP:

Your child will bring home an invitation this week to connect with the 5J classroom via the Seesaw App. Seesaw is an App that I'm sure many of you are already familiar with, but basically it is a platform that allows you to see some of the great work that your child is doing in the classroom.

Please note that this will be used purely as a means for you to keep up to date with your child's learning. Any communication with myself will stay as per usual.

CULTURE, NATURE AND CHALLENGE DAYS:

Just a quick note to let me know if you are able to join us on either of the days next week. Fingers
crossed we are blessed with some great weather!!!

CROSS COUNTRY:

Good luck to the 8 students from 5J that will be representing OLC at the Interschool Carnival this Thursday. Not bragging or anything

CONFIRMATION:

Please keep the Year Six candidates who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation this Sunday in your prayers.

IN THE CLASSROOM:

1. Book Club - This term, we will be running a book club as part of our reading program. This means that your child will be required to read a certain amount of chapters each week so that they are able to

participate successfully in the book club meeting every Friday . It would be great if you could listen to them read at least once during the week. Members of a each group will rotate through 5 different roles - 1 role per week (director, connector, summariser, illustrator and word finder). This will begin in Week 3.

2. Explanations - We are moving into explanation writing this term. To kick things off, we will write about how early explorers navigated their ships.

3. Fractions, Decimals and Percentages - We are looking at fractions, decimals and percentages over the next few weeks.

Until next time,

Mr Jones
