Welcome to the final week of the term!

I can't believe we are already entering into Holy Week and will soon be celebrating Easter with our
families. I hope you all have a fantastic break, wherever you may be, and we shall see you all save and sound on the other side of the holidays.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS


Swimming Carnival:
As you may already be aware our Swimming Carnival will take place this Thursday 1st April at Margaret River Leisure Centre. The start time is 10am, please refer to school's previous email for further information.

MESSAGE from MRS LEAHY - Please help us construct Pre-primary Icebergs!!!

Our Pre-primary science lessons have involved looking at how ‘the sun changes everything’.

We are planning on finishing our unit by constructing 2 ‘icebergs’ in the pre-primary area to see how the sun effects one sitting in the sun and the other sitting in the shade. But we need your help….

We are asking every family in the school to bring iceblocks (made using an icecream container or large plastic container) to the Pre-primary playground this Thursday morning (1st April). You may colour the water if you like.

We will watch the icebergs melt throughout the day after predicting how long it will take for the icebergs to melt and which one will melt first.

Please help us construct the biggest icebergs we can!!!

BUDDY TIME



We have finally made our way back into our buddy class after swimming lessons. The kids (both young and younger) really do get a kick out of the interaction. Wilko certainly enjoys it!
 







HOME LEARNING

There won't be any official home learning this week, however please encourage your child to continue to read and practice their times tables. There are also some tasks that have been assigned on Mathletics that will review some of the place value concepts that we have covered.

Leadership Teams 2024 Please take the time to go through the different roles below and have a discussion with your child about what would be a great fit for them.  We will begin to create a one page CV tomorrow. This will include some background information such as their name, birthday, faction, years at OLC, special achievements / milestones (First Holy Communion) as well as their 3 top preferences. With each preference, your child might like to write a sentence as to why they are interested or would be a great fit to that particular team. Movie Day

 KAYA,  Welcome to the final week of 2023! MOVIE DAY REWARD The Year Five classes will be joining forces and watching a movie together on Thursday. A student from 5J has used all of their Banqer money to purchase the 'Movie Buff' reward. This reward allows them to choose 5 movies to put forward to the parents for approval. If all are approved, they make the final decision for what we watch on Thursday. IF YOU HAVE ANY OBJECTION TO ANY OF THE MOVIES LISTED BELOW, PLEASE EMAIL ME BEFORE CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON WEDNESDAY (TOMORROW) AND I CAN REMOVE THAT MOVIE FROM THE LIST.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THEY ARE ALL RATED 'PG'. 1.   Kaya Team 5J, Winter is here!  I hope you had a great long weekend, whether it was out and about or sitting cozy next to the fire.  QUOTE OF THE WEEK IMPORTANT DATES ( more information can be found on the school website)  8th June: Winter Sports Carnival - Hay Park, Bunbury 15th June:  OLC Cross Country Carnival 16th June:  Year 3-6 Dance Concert - 11am WINTER CARNIVAL The 2023 Winter Sports Carnival is on this Thursday at Hay Park, Bunbury. Looks like there will probably be some rain during the day, so please remind your child to pack a towel. Might see you out there if you are coming along to support the OLC teams. JUNIOR MASTER CHEF   This term, we have been learning about fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and fibre, and how they affect the human body.
