... and that's a wrap

Dear Parents,

The perfect words for this moment are not easy to come by.... 

Yesterday your beautiful children wrote a song for me, choreographed and performed dance routines, presented speeches, played the piano, baked a cake, gave me gifts... and I wept! I am so invested in each child's progress, treasure our laughs and in-jokes and love them even when I'm growling at them to, "Stop talking...I'm just going to wait for whole body listening!"

And then this morning to be greeted with the gorgeous flowers and beautiful messages from you all, I am so moved thank you.

I tell the children often, that they each have something special to offer the world, gifts that this world needs, and I look forward to seeing them more fully realise those gifts, as they complete Year 5 with Nick. Nick is my mentor, has years of teaching experience and, one of the kindest hearts... I have no doubt your children will blossom in his care.

 




God Moment -   We celebrated a beautiful, reverent Easter Liturgy in class this morning. The children did the Readings, sang Chris Tomlin's 'Our God' and watched an animation of the Easter Story.

Tom you have faultless manners and are a positive and responsible member of Year 5. At the centre of everything you do is compassion. You demonstrate this through the respect and consideration you show for your teachers, peers and yourself. You stand up for what is right and just, and your happy disposition makes a difference to our day.

School Holidays

Our children work overtime absorbing and processing information, social situations, observations, and their own assessments of all of the above... then add to that the current challenges of the Covid situation! It's tiring just thinking about it. Teaching our children to take a break and smell the roses is a valuable life skill, and I hope we all have loads of opportunities to enjoy some downtime these school holidays.

Chill. Relax. Rest. Breathe. Everyone. Even the kiddos....especially the kiddos.

    Anne, Jax has been so upset this week unable to be there to say thankyou and goodbye he cant stop saying how sad all the children are but they, as well as the parent, have been extremely blessed to have you to welcome them into year 5. All the best and a huge hug from Jax x

Movie Day

 KAYA,  Welcome to the final week of 2023! MOVIE DAY REWARD The Year Five classes will be joining forces and watching a movie together on Thursday. A student from 5J has used all of their Banqer money to purchase the 'Movie Buff' reward. This reward allows them to choose 5 movies to put forward to the parents for approval. If all are approved, they make the final decision for what we watch on Thursday. IF YOU HAVE ANY OBJECTION TO ANY OF THE MOVIES LISTED BELOW, PLEASE EMAIL ME BEFORE CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON WEDNESDAY (TOMORROW) AND I CAN REMOVE THAT MOVIE FROM THE LIST.  PLEASE NOTE THAT THEY ARE ALL RATED 'PG'. 1.   Kaya Team 5J, Winter is here!  I hope you had a great long weekend, whether it was out and about or sitting cozy next to the fire.  QUOTE OF THE WEEK IMPORTANT DATES ( more information can be found on the school website)  8th June: Winter Sports Carnival - Hay Park, Bunbury 15th June:  OLC Cross Country Carnival 16th June:  Year 3-6 Dance Concert - 11am WINTER CARNIVAL The 2023 Winter Sports Carnival is on this Thursday at Hay Park, Bunbury. Looks like there will probably be some rain during the day, so please remind your child to pack a towel. Might see you out there if you are coming along to support the OLC teams. JUNIOR MASTER CHEF   This term, we have been learning about fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and fibre, and how they affect the human body. The students will now begin to design a 3 course meal for a particular season (Summer or Winter) in the South West.  A requirement of this project is for your child to prepare one of the dishes on their menu at home
